Cleaning MWS Wire Wheels

Overview Centre-lock Wheels Bolt-on Wheels

MWS Wire Wheels are craftsman built products and to maintain their best condition in service the following instructions should be followed.

For all finishes (in addition to further specialized instructions below):
  • Allow the wheels to cool before cleaning
  • Do not use a pressure hose or washer
  • Do not use an abrasive cleaner (such as T-Cut)
  • Regularly wash the wheels (on the car) with soap and water, rinse with clean water and dry off
  • Regularly remove the wheels from the vehicle and clean the entire wheel thoroughly to remove the corrosive dirt and brake dust which builds up over time

Silver-painted:
  • No additional care should be necessary

Chrome:
  • If the chromium plating appears tarnished – polish using a good quality chrome cleaner with a soft cloth, thoroughly rinse with clean water, dry and wipe with a clean, dry soft cloth to ensure all traces of cleaner are removed
  • A good quality wax polish can be applied for further protection
  • In extreme conditions, or if the vehicle is to be stored for any length of time, a light spray oil can be used (taking care not to spray oil on the brake discs).

Stainless Steel:
  • Moisten the entire surface of the wheel
  • Spray the wheel with a cleaning fluid as recommended for chrome wire wheels and allow to stand for 5-10 minutes
  • Clean the wheel using a soft brush to avoid scratches – ensure that all dirt and brake dust is removed from the wheel
  • Rinse the wheel thoroughly with clean water to ensure all dirt, dust and cleaner residue is removed
  • Dry entire wheel with a soft cloth.

CAUTION – PLEASE READ THE MANUFACTURER`S HEALTH & SAFETY ADVICE OR WARNINGS BEFORE USING ANY WIRE WHEEL CLEANER

General good practice when using wire wheel cleaner is:
